accounting, orderly accounting by katie
I am a licensed CPA with over 10 years of tax & accounting experience. I’ve worked for a local CPA firm focusing on small business clients in all stages of their businesses and have managed the sales tax department of a multi billion dollar company. I currently run my own home-based practice focusing on small, predominantly female owned businesses. My greatest passion is providing online education that empowers female entrepreneurs to understand & organize the numbers side of their business so they can be their own advocate, save money, reduce risk, and remove stress which allows them to focus with clarity on the parts of their business they love. I want to see women succeed in all areas of their businesses, even the "numbers side of things". When I am not working, I can be found juggling my two toddlers at local parks.
What quote do you live by?
I believe the only thing more empowering than making money on your own is understanding how to manage it
What are your hobbies, interests and passions?
Raising my two kids, spending time outdoors, being with my family, drinking a cup of coffee for way too long, and empowering women to succeed in their business so they can spend more time doing what they love.
What does your typical day look like?
I wake up earlier than I'd like, brew a cup of coffee, and love on my kids. We spend a lot of time with our close knit family who live nearby. I go to parks almost daily. Some of my favorite times are on family bike rides or walks down the alleys so we can walk our dog off a leash without bothering anyone. I'm not too complicated and don't need much to make me happy.
What motivates you?
My children and my desire to spend time with them while making an impact.
What is the best advice you were given?
I wasn't sure if I should sit for the CPA exam, even though I had met all requirements. At the time it wasn't going to change my career much and it's an expensive, time consuming, 4 part test. My 94 year old great uncle simply asked, "would you ever regret doing it?" And in that moment, my mind was made up.
What is your definition of success?
It has nothing to do with money. Success is being mentally clear, emotionally fulfilled, and having the freedom to spend your days doing what you love.
What do you want to achieve in the upcoming year personally & professionally ?
I want to grow my network, expand my impact, help as many female entrepreneurs find clarity in their business as possible, and simplify my life. I want to have less screen time and more success.
How do you want to use you're strength to give back to the community?
If more women succeed in their businesses, they will be able to spend more time living the live they deserve, spend time with their families, and have enough money and time to give back. My favorite charities are local, The Mobile School Pantry ran by Hollywood native Zeina Zein, and Stepp'n Up Shoes For Kids, Inc ran by the lovely Val Viglione of Echo Salon in Ft Lauderdale
What is the biggest challenge you have in your business?
Focusing my time in the most productive way, though I'm getting much clearer on this.
Why did you decide to join The Emery?
I love absolutely everything it stands for. It's local, it's female run, it's designed to help women succeed, it's affordable. It was a no brainer. I'm thrilled to be a part of it.
