marketing, ama consulting
I'm a New Yorker turned Miami girl, mom to two crazy (but lovable) toddlers, and a seasoned brand builder with over 15 years experience across the fashion, beauty and lifestyle industries, specializing in marketing, public relations, events & partnerships. I'm the founder of ama Consulting and a wellness advocate and blogger at Beauty Wellness Mama.
What quote do you live by?
“Great things never come from comfort zones.”
What are your hobbies, interests and passions?
I'm extremely passionate about living a clean, non-toxic and mostly organic lifestyle for myself & my family. While I'm far from perfect, I try to take the 'every little bit' counts approach to health & wellness. These days, I don't have much time for hobbies but I love getting outdoors as much as possible to take advantage of the fact that we live in a tropical paradise! Going for a run, practicing yoga or pilates outside in the fresh air, swimming and of course being a beach bum whenever possible!
What does your typical day look like?
Being an entrepreneur and a business owner usually means that there is no such thing as a typical day! But generally speaking, I usually start my day with a coffee, breakfast or workout meeting (trust me, the workout meeting is EVERYTHING!), then tackle all my calls, emails and client work until I pick up my kids from school in the afternoon. From there I usually put on my "mom hat" until they go to bed, which has been the best (albeit sometimes the most challenging) part of working for myself. My husband and I are very social so we're out and about many evenings of the week, but to be honest my favorite thing is to just curl up with my laptop in bed with a glass of rosé in hand!
What motivates you?
The desire to set an example for my children and leave a mark on the world.
What is the best advice you were given?
Don't be afraid to give up the good for the great.
What is your definition of success?
Oooooh that's a good one!! I'm sure there was a time in my life that I would have said success was tied to some material thing, a certain kind of lifestyle. But now I really think success is about understanding that life is a journey and not a destination - living life to the fullest by being brave, having confidence and showing up for yourself every day. To understanding that you very well may fail, but trying away.
What do you want to achieve in the upcoming year personally & professionally ?
I have big goals for this next year! 2018 has been the year of change for me, both personally and professionally. My goal for this next year is really about embracing that change and running with it. I want to attract more marketing clients like the ones I have - people that I love to be around! And I want to continue to see those clients' businesses explode! From a wellness perspective, I want to keep educating people about the environmental impacts on your health and inspire more women to follow their passion and make an impact through the clean beauty movement. From a personal perspective I want to work on being more PRESENT with my family. Time is so precious and moves so fast. I want to make sure I am capturing every moment.
How do you want to use you're strength to give back to the community?
I was so fortunate to have incredible mentors in the early years of my career. I love mentoring young women (and men) and am excited to start doing more of that this year!
What is the biggest challenge you have in your business?
I am great at telling my clients what to do - how to market themselves, what strategy to follow on social media, etc - but horrible when it comes to following that advice for my own personal business. A big goal for 2019 is to take my own advice, as funny as that sounds!
Why did you decide to join The Emery?
Honestly? I couldn't NOT join! I am ALL about women banding together to support each other and I absolutely LOVE this network of women that The Emery has built. I am so excited to see this incredible community continue to grow. There is such a vibrant group of like-minded, entrepreneurial women in South Florida, but very few outlets to connect us. It's incredible that we now have this super CHIC and beautiful space to connect, network and grow. THANK YOU!
